What is the Virtual Try-On API?

The Virtual Try-On PRO API is a REST API that generates photorealistic images of real shoppers wearing specific garments. Your platform sends two images — a photo of the shopper and the product photo from your listing — and receives an AI-generated try-on render in seconds. It is the same generative AI engine behind the Virtual Try-On PRO iOS app, offered as infrastructure for marketplaces, fashion retailers, and styling apps.

Commercial access is offered through a partner program: we onboard each platform individually, starting with a private live demo and a free pilot on a limited catalog, then provision dedicated API access for production.

Industry analyses consistently place online fashion return rates at roughly 25–40% of orders, with wrong fit or size the most commonly cited reason. Virtual try-on attacks that problem at the moment it starts: before the shopper picks a size and clicks buy.

How does the try-on API work?

1

Send two images

Your backend calls the REST endpoint with a shopper photo and the product image from your listing, using the API credentials issued during partner onboarding.

2

AI renders the fit

Our generative AI engine composites the garment onto the shopper photo — preserving pose, body shape, lighting, and fabric detail — typically in a few seconds.

3

Show the result

You receive a photorealistic image to display on the product page, in your app, or in the shopping cart — fully inside your own brand experience.

Who is the API for?

Marketplaces

Add a "See it on me" button across millions of fashion listings. Shoppers preview fit before choosing a size, which reduces fit-related returns — the single largest driver of fashion return costs.

Fashion brands & retailers

Give your own online store a fitting room. Shoppers who visualize a garment on themselves engage longer and buy with more confidence than those judging from model photos alone.

Styling & wardrobe apps

Power outfit planning, personal styling, and lookbook features with on-demand try-on renders, without building or hosting your own AI infrastructure.

Integration, privacy & reliability

  • Simple REST interface. Two images in, one image out. Any backend stack can integrate it; most teams have a working proof of concept within days.
  • Partner onboarding. Commercial access is provisioned per partner during onboarding — dedicated API credentials, usage reporting for transparent billing, and agreed quotas and rate limits.
  • Privacy by design. Shopper photos are processed in memory and never stored on our servers, and every request passes automated content moderation — a design that simplifies GDPR and KVKK compliance reviews.
  • White-label by default. The API returns raw images; the experience lives entirely inside your product pages and apps, under your brand.

Virtual try-on API — frequently asked questions

What is a virtual try-on API?

A virtual try-on API is a web service that generates a photorealistic image of a real person wearing a specific garment. Your platform sends two images — a shopper photo and a product photo — and receives a rendered try-on image back. The Virtual Try-On PRO API exposes the same AI engine that powers our consumer iOS app as a simple REST endpoint for e-commerce platforms, marketplaces, and fashion apps.

How do shoppers use virtual try-on on a marketplace or online store?

A typical integration adds a "See it on me" button to the product page. The shopper uploads or reuses a photo of themselves, the store calls the API with that photo and the product image already in the listing, and the rendered result appears in seconds — before the shopper decides on a size or completes checkout.

Which product categories does the API support?

The API supports clothing worn on the body: tops, shirts, t-shirts, blouses, dresses, skirts, trousers, jeans, outerwear such as jackets and coats, and full outfits. It works from standard e-commerce product photos — flat lays, mannequin shots, and on-model photos all work as input.

What does integration look like technically?

It is a standard HTTPS REST API: send a person image and a product image, receive a generated image in the response. There is no SDK requirement and no vendor lock-in — any backend stack (Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, Go) can call it. Commercial access is set up per partner during onboarding, including dedicated API credentials, and most teams complete a proof of concept in days, not months.

How is shopper privacy handled?

Uploaded photos are processed in memory to generate the try-on render and are not stored on our servers. Every request also passes automated content moderation before generation. This design keeps personal images out of long-term storage, which simplifies GDPR and KVKK compliance reviews for partners.

How much does the virtual try-on API cost?

Pricing is per generated render with volume tiers, plus a monthly platform fee for dedicated support and capacity. New partners can start with a free pilot on a limited catalog to measure conversion and return-rate impact before committing. Contact info@citides.com for a quote tailored to your traffic.

Can we white-label the try-on experience?

Yes. The API returns raw images, so the try-on experience lives entirely inside your own product pages, app screens, and brand. Your customers never leave your platform and no third-party branding is required.
